Postpartum Isn’t What I Expected: Finding Peace in the In-Between

There’s a part of postpartum that no one really prepares you for.

It’s the in-between.

We often think this season will be one of two things:
This will be the happiest time of my life… or this is going to break me.

But what if neither is fully true?

What if the reality is somewhere in the middle?

Postpartum is filled with moments that don’t fit into neat categories.

You can feel deep love for your baby… and still feel overwhelmed.
You can be grateful… and still feel anxious.
You can have joy… and still struggle.

And that doesn’t mean you’re failing.
It means you’re human.

God never promised us a life without problems—even in motherhood.

The sleepless nights, the emotional waves, the identity shifts…
they are not signs that something is wrong.

They are part of the process.

When we begin to accept that change and challenges are a part of this season, something begins to shift.

We stop fighting the “why me?”
And we start asking, “What is this teaching me?”

Postpartum has a way of stretching you in ways you never expected.

But in that stretching, something deeper is happening.

You are growing.
You are learning.
You are being drawn closer to Jesus.

And in that closeness… there is peace.

Not because everything feels easy,
but because you are no longer carrying it alone.

So many of us try to control this season.

We try to manage every outcome, every feeling, every fear—
just to protect ourselves from things going wrong.

But the truth is, that control was never ours to begin with.

God is in control.

And when we begin to truly trust Him—even in the messy, emotional, uncertain middle—
we find freedom.

Freedom from needing to have it all figured out.
Freedom from the pressure to feel a certain way.
Freedom from believing this season has to be perfect to be meaningful.

Because even here…
in the exhaustion,
in the questions,
in the in-between—

God is with you.

He is working in you.
He is walking beside you.

And He is using even this season for His glory.

📖 Scripture for This Season

These verses align beautifully with what you’re sharing and will really anchor your message:

  • Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him…”

  • Isaiah 41:10
“Do not fear, for I am with you… I will strengthen you and help you.”

  • James 1:2-4
“Consider it pure joy… whenever you face trials… because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

  • 2 Corinthians 12:9
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

If you’re in the in-between right now, take a deep breath—you are not alone in this.

I’d love to walk alongside you in this season.
